I had my 16 week checkup today. Nothing too exciting but I did get to listen to the heartbeat, which was great. It took the Dr. a little bit to find it and I was starting to get nervous, but they must deal with that all the time because she kept reassuring me that it often takes a while for them locate the heartbeat depending on the position of the baby. She started looking for it up by my belly button and ended up finding it much further down on the right side of my belly. It was a healthy 150 bpm. After that, I went over to the hospital and had blood drawn for the Quad-Screen Test which helps the Dr. determine if the baby may have Down Syndrome and helps rule out other potential problems such as neural-tube defects. We are praying that the results bring good news!
I am feeling pretty good for the most part. I still have moments where I feel nauseous, but it is definitely not as often as before. I am getting so anxious for the weather to get nicer so that I can start walking in the evenings. This whole week the temperatures have been in the mid 50's and the wind has been blowing like crazy - not umcommon for Ellensburg in the spring, I know :-)
Here are some pics of my 16 week belly. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
My belly button is huge :-)
My next appointment is scheduled for June 8th. This will be my 20 week ultrasound and we will be able to find out the sex of the baby - that is IF I can talk Tony into it. I really want to find out what we are having and he really wants to be surprised. I told him that it will be a surprise either way, what difference does it make if we are surprised at 20 weeks or 40 weeks? I guess we still have some discussing to do...

SO CUTE!!!! 150 hmm, definitley could be boy or girl, haha. I couldn't get my ultrasound until the 10th.
Glad things are going well!
Love those updates. I'll be praying for a strong healthy baby no matter what test they run. Excited to see you on Saturday!
Oh yeah, and I love the tummy--isn't it fun!
Your tummy is cute!! Just wait...your belly button is going to get much bigger. Mine looks huge now especially with this being my 2nd. A surprise would be so fun but I understand you wanting to know especially for the first baby. That's when you have all the baby showers and everything and I doubt you want everything in yellow and green right:)?? Then again everyone could just get you gift cards and you could pick out the adorable stuff after the baby is born. Keep updating!
Love ya!
Randi! You are SO good at this blog thing, and you say you aren't techy!
Your belly is so cute! Still looks toned, of course. We are so excited for you!! Love you!
It was so good to see you this weekend! I love the update and it was great to get to talk to you about pregnancy face to face! Definately have to introduce the kids this Christmas! I, of course, totally agree with the idea of finding out the sex at the ultrasound but that was a good idea to have a "gift card" shower for most the cute stuff....still I will make a list of all the "surprises" I experience once Josiah is born and I will give them to Tony...maybe that will satisfy his need to be surprised once baby comes!
Cute blog Randi! And you have an adorably cute/ small belly - I'll trade ya:)
